I booked my Goat hunt with Marty in 2013 on the phone after several references said he was the best. My Goat hunt was this Fall of 2015. You know you have the right outfitter when the references will not get off the phone! If you want the real deal go with Rocky Mountain High Outfitters. We had an incredible experience the whole hunt, and that is an understatement! If you like the traditional way of the Mule pack string to get in the backcountry and hunt endless wilderness this is your deal. I shot my Goat on the second day, and it’s our opinion that Goat had never seen a human before. That’s true wilderness, and hunting folks! I am in the process of writing a story now for Mountain Hunter. Read about how Marty indirectly saved my life. You have chosen the right guy!

Great Hunting!

I had a successful bighorn sheep hunt with Rocky Mountain High in October, 2015.  I experienced sincere, professional and hardworking guides who were committed to providing the best chance for a successful hunt and a unique western Canadian wilderness adventure. Many thanks to Marty and Carrie, Jason and Evan.

Twice I’ve elk hunted with RMHO and both hunts were nothing less than spectacular and incredible experiences! Marty and his entire team are passionate about everything they do.  Abundant game, beautiful territory and first class hospitality…what else can I say except I can’t wait until next season!”

For a few years now, I wanted to experience a Cat hunt.  I had such a good experience with Marty and his team with an Elk hunt that I was fortunate to go back a few years later.

Marty and his team of guides are very knowledgeable and professional.  All, work very hard in order to please their clients, great accommodations make for a great experience.

If you are wanting to hunt Cougar, I would highly suggest to purchase a Bobcat tag as well, it will be worth your while to run both tracks during this hunt.  I harvested a Bobcat on Day 3 and a Cougar on Day 7.

I highly recommend Rocky Mountain Outfitters for your next Cat hunt.  I can not thank Marty, his guides and his family enough for an experience of a lifetime.

When I harvested my Dall Sheep in 2009 it was the first step towards my Grand Slam and when I harvested my Stone Sheep in 2012, I only needed one more to complete my Grand Slam of North American Wild Sheep.  Many fellow hunters warned me the 4th would be my toughest so I needed to control as many of the variables as possible including being in the best mental and physical condition possible, choosing a good area and certainly picking an excellent outfitter.

As I began to research potential outfitters for my Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep adventure one name kept coming up – Marty Lightburn, owner of Rocky Mountain High Adventures.  I hunted Mountain Goats in SE British Columbia and knew it would be gorgeous but challenging country.  Soon I was booked for the opening hunt of 2014 with Marty and the RMHA team.

Marty would not disappoint as they had scouted well, had good camps, good horses and a beautiful guiding territory.  On the 8th day of glassing over many rocks, we finally turned up a group with one and possibly two full curl rams and commenced a 7-hour stalk that positioned us on top of the band.   In fact we got too close and they exploded as we peered over the edge.  Thankfully chaos soon returned to calm execution as my guide Shawn called out which ram to shoot and my rifle did its job.

I am very thankful to Marty, Dan and Shawn for helping complete a dream with the adventure of a lifetime in the Canadian Rockies.  They are well organized, have good equipment, and work very hard.  I would certainly recommend other hunters to consider RMHA for their future hunting plans.

I’ve hunted elk with Marty Lightburn for the past five consecutive years, and looking forward to another hunt this fall. His accommodations, food, and hunting experiences are all great. That’s why I book every year.

Booked my first Big Game Guided Hunt last June 20-26, 2015 with Rocky Mountain High Outfitters of Jaffary B.C. Canada. My guide was owner Marty Lightburn. Marty is a Hound man, we hunted black bear’s with his pack of 6 hound’s and his young guide Evan Burgess pack of 5. We had a 6.5 foot black on the ground 2 hours after leaving his house on the first day of our hunt, the second day I killed a beautiful blonde bear. Day three my partner shot his first bear a dandy brown colored bear. Marty and Evan put bear’s up tree’s every day for us. My partner chose not to shoot his second bear holding out for one of larger size.

This hunt was everything I dreamed of. Beautiful country, lots of bears and hard hunting knowledgeable guides. Marty and Evan know both their quarry and their hound’s. This was the most physically demanding and most rewarding hunt I have ever had. The primitive cabin was very comfortable and the food was great. Can’t wait to get my rugs back from the taxidermist, to remind me of my hunt of a lifetime with Marty and Evan of Rocky Mountain Outfitter’s. My next adventure will be with Marty for Mountain Lion.

I met Marty and Carrie at the SCI Show in 2010 and booked an Elk hunt with them for that fall. I was impressed with the detail and planning that they had put fort for the three hunters in camp. Meals, lodging, guides, horses, wrangler and the best cook in British Columbia, were all first class. I did not take an Elk but was very close a couple of times. It was my first time hunting Elk in the rut and calling them in.

Seeing how dedicated  Marty and Carrie are to there Outfitting Business Dan and I decided to go Cougar hunting with them in December 2014.

Again every detail was in place when Marty picked us up at the airport. We were in the truck every morning at 5:00. Dogs fed lunches packed the hunting started at the end of his drive. During the five days that we hunted we treed 6 different Cats. Dan and I both took nice Cats.  I have to say that Marty has well trained dogs. And he knows his hunting area very well. Nice modern cabin to stay in and excellent meals at the main Lodge by Carrie.

Dan and I have been on a lot of hunts at many different locations for a verity of game animals. On the last night we decided that this hunt was just one of the most enjoyable adventures that we had taken.

So the next morning we rebooked with Marty to hunt Cougar again in December 2015.

It was just a FUN week with great host!
